Hi Gregory,

Ask your librarian to steer you to a reference work which lists composers
and the reference works in which they are mentioned -- I believe it's
compiled by Storm Bull. This is a really useful tool, because
oftentimes, "odd" composers or more contemporary ones will not be
mentioned in the New Grove. Another good source is Baker's Biographical
Dictionary (for composer bios and some listing of their works).
