To all,
I took this from the Northwestern U. student paper on the WWW.

Services set for Paynter

Dates and places of various remembrance services for John Paynter are being
finalized as the death on Sunday of Mr. Paynter, Northwestern's director of
bands, remains fresh on hundreds of people's minds.
Funeral visitation of Mr. Paynter will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and
Friday, said Judy Moore, university spokeswoman. The visitation will be at
N. H. Scott & Hebblethwaite funeral home, located at 1240 Waukegan Road in
Glenview, Moore said.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Glenview Community
Church, 1000 Elm St. in Glenview, she said. Mr. Paynter, 67, died around
1:30 p.m. Sunday at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. He had been in a coma
in the hospital since Jan. 23 after suffering from a stroke.
As NU's director of bands since 1953, Mr. Paynter was only the second
director in university history. He was also a School of Music professor of
conducting and the director of the NU "Wildcats" Marching Band since 1949.

P.S.
I'm sure there are many of us out there who at one time or another
were part of Mr. Paynter's love of music and wind bands. He will be
greatly missed.
