With all the mouthpieces I have acquired and sampled I never
thought I would ask this but:
I play Tenor Sax in a jazz group at work. I need to practise
but have limited time so I use that time for my clarinet. I
can play the jazz repertoire much easier on my clarinet.
(See what practise does) However I can't be heard over all
those saxophones so I thought I would look for a mouthpiece
for use in this group. My top 5 requirements are.
1. LOUD
2. LOUD
3. LOUD
4. Control
5. Intonation (I am playing with saxophones)

I have tried a Hite which is louder than my others and plays
almost any reed. I also have a VanDoren 5JB but I don't
currently have any reeds soft enough for it. Please send any
reccomendations, I would really rather play clarinet instead
of practising Sax.
Thanks,

I say:

Try a more open Blayman mouthpiece.

I use the H (most closed but still not small) in show situations and the E in
loud bands. He also makes an R which is quite open if you want to put a lot
of air through the horn and a B which is really open. They all play good and
I think you will like the more open ones if you use a 31/2 or softer reed.

The 4 sizes he offers from most closed to most open are:
H
E
R
B
Yes thats his first name.
You can call him in Belin NM
