Low Blow... ALL bass clarinets???
Sounds like a great time to me! I recently played euphonium for a
TubaChristmas event here in Michigan. I was surprised at how pretty and
melodic all of the euphoniums and tubas were together, and at the lack of
"muddiness" in our sound. Trying that same "choir" idea with an instrument
with the incredible range and expression of the bass clarinet should prove to be
great.
Where is bass clarinettist Marty Walker these days? The last performanc
e
of his that I heard, in chilly Marquette Michigan's Northern Michigan
University, was a bass clarinet quintet. Four of the parts were on tape, and
Marty Walker played the fifth part live. Where did he go???
