No, at least not so far as I know. I avoid placing the citrus peel in
direct contact with the instrument, so I'm not sure what would happen if
you did that. Also, I remove all the membrane from the inside of the
peel before putting it in the case. Perhaps this makes a difference.
BTW, my primary occasion for using these is to humidify bassoons. The
clarinet situation might be different.
