Dear Cathy,

I use a dampit plus a Humistat in the dry months, viz., Dec. thru March.
I find that it not only cuts down the risk of cracks due to humidity
changes, but also keeps your reeds (if kept inside the clarinet case)
from warping excessively. You should monitor this carefully do avoid
mildew problems in less dry environments or seasons.
