I am wondering if the Summit Label has been contacted regrading these
tapes. Summit is a label that specialized in wind recordings and
educational materials as well. They are the label that has released the
orchestral excerpt cds of Coombs, Mack, etc.

They have also released a tribute to the legendary horn player Phil
Farkas, which makes me think they might be willing to release a less-than
high-fidelity recording, at least in a limited fashion.

Failing that, you could press them yourself. A run of 1,000 shouldn't cost
much more than $1-2 apiece (for a one disc set, obviously all of those
etudes wouldn't fit on one). Then you could insert notes, etc. and sell
them through the mail. Assuming your interest is altruistic, and not one
of profit, you won't lose too much money. And all these recordings would
be available to people like me who have an interest in such things.

Speaking of which. I was once told about Harold Wright having taped a few
Rose etudes. Anyone know anything about that? There is also a famous tape
of Iggy Gennusa just noodling around (he once promised to send me a copy,
but it never happened).

Lastly, there is a rare Leblanc issue lp of Bonade giving a masterclass
during which he demonstrates some passages from the "Zampa" overture. I
would love to get a copy of this also. Anyone think they can get Leblanc
to reissue this? Much food for thought!
