Subj: Clarification and apologies on the arts funding petition
Date: Tue, 23 Jan 1996 03:03:17 -0500

Dear Clarinet Friends:
I apologize for any confusion or problems with circulating the arts funding
petition to this mailing list. I appreciate the commentary that a
different/better approach would have been to post an announcement of the
petition and have people ask to have the petition sent directly to them.

For clarification: I understood the petition to indicate that if you sign
the petition as the 50th, 100th or 150th ...etc. signer, you should forward a
copy to wein2688@-----.edu
or
kubi7975@-----.edu

If you are not the 50th, 100th, 150th signer, then you would perpetuate
sending the petition. I am not sure of the logic to this approach sicne
you would have several strands being circulated, but I did want to get the
information out to an appropriate group who would probably support the
petition.

Would people agree that the initator of the petition should have requested
the responses to be sent directly to him/her? I would imagine that this
would not be unacceptable, but I haven't contacted the petition initiator to
ask.
