Klarinet Archive - Posting 000382.txt from 1996/01

Stephen Gregory asked about E flat solo music.
Stephen,
I have a version of Variations on Carnival in Venice by Cavallini.
Interestingly this seems to be dedicated to another clarinettist.
I've always found it a bit disappointing compared to other versions,
e.g. Jeanjean.
Also the Molter concertos were written for D clarinet and can be fun.
Are people on this list aware of a German clarinet bibliography by
Eugen Brixel "Klarinetten Bibliographie - 1" published by
Heinrichshofen in 1978. This answers most of the "what has been
written for ...." questions which crop up. I picked up this book in
Paris about 8 years ago, I have no idea if a a second volume or later
edition exists. The language is not really an issue and the book has
400+ pages of clarinet related compositions and books. The ISBN is 3
7959 0144 8.
Interesting enough the book misses a clarinet and voice favorite of
mine, the three vocalise by Vaughan Williams for soprano and clarinet
alone.
Its good to see at least 2 other active NZ Klarinet'ers!
By the way if anyone has the Klarinet digest 17 Jan 1996 to 18 Jan
1996 could they be kind enough to email me a copy at
j.jarvie@-----. My version got truncated after the first message
and the topic list has a couple of interesting items.
