Hi Mary...My clarinet has cracked twice since I bought it 2 yaers ago. I
guess I just got some bad grenadilla. Anyway, I had the option of having the
company replace the joint without keys or posts. That was about 400$ I think.
I also had the option of getting the crack "pinned" since I bought the
clarinet from that store, they would do it for free. That suggests to me that
it is inexpensive. It supposedly does not change the tone. I don't know
because I had the joint replaced. I belive most good repair shops will pin a
wood clarinet.
