George Landis <gel@-----.NET>, in his note about Hans Moennig says, in
part:

>My teacher, who was a Curtis graduate, always stressed
>the importance of Moennig's bells. I seem to remember >that he felt that the
bells were almost as important as >the barrels. As I said, I don't recall
why.

In Robert Schmidt's book (mentioned in my note yesterday) templates are
included showing the internal flare for the ideal Buffet R13 A and Bb bells.
He states the flare of the A bell can be more open than the Bb bell and
shows with a sketch where to sand to relieve a stuffy, flat third line B.

I think a whole lot more importance was placed on the barrel and upper bore
dimensions in this book than on the bell. As might be expected, he indicates
the bell affects only a few notes.
