Some more comments re Hans Moennig. I purchased a Bb in 1964 from Harold
Wright which had been done by Moennig and I took a below average A to
Moennig later that year to see what he could do for it. I suggested that I
would be happy to buy a new one from him, but he said he could do the same
things to this one just as well as he could a new one.He reamed out the top
joint a lot,put inserts in several of the LH tone holes, fitted a new
barrel, reamed the bell quite a bit and did some general work on it.When he
finished, it was as good as several of his insruments I have played since
then. He did all this for the princely sum of 40.oo.He was gruff and
intimidated some people, but what an artist!
