In response to the cork grease question: I am not sure of what the types
you purchase in the little tubes in music stores is made of. However, I
have used McQueen's Pure Mutton Tallow sold by M. J. Baker of Nunnelly, TN
ever since Ralph Morgan (mouthpiece maker) put me on to it years ago. It
does not have any perfume smell--but my instrument corks (especially on the
bassett horn) have held up well over the years.
