Vincent,

You didn't mention the setup your student is playing on. I have found
some students try to "bite" the altissimo register. I emphasise making
students try to "whistle" the altissimo range notes first. That gives
them the proper feeling for the tongue position. It is really the tongue
and wind speed that makes the altissimo range secure. I use a rubber
band as a prop. The more tension you apply by streching your fingers
(making the rubber band tighter) the higher the note goes. I compare
that with the reed vibrating faster on high pitches. This demonstrates
that "biting" is not productive. It has to be free to vibrate.

Note: The squeaking sound in one register is almost positively caused by
a small opening for the air to go through. An almost closed reed.
