For years i have been participating in a group which aims to play interesting
classical pieces with whatever instruments show up. our director arranges
things for us from the score, assigning parts to whatever we have. viola
parts, for example, are assigned to third clarinet or trombone or a
mixture of both if there's no viola.

the director, let me add, is a very fine musician and a BRILLIANT arranger.
she had us doing a movement of a Mozart symphony that sounded wonderful,
despite the fact that we have practically no string players and very little
in the bass department.

she has several drawerfuls (drawersful?) of these extremely good
arrangements. it struck me that they might be useful for other such
community groups (and maybe even schools) and that they should therefore
be published. can anyone suggest publishers who might be interested.
has anyone out there tried this already, and if so, what happened?

thanks, linda
(clarinet/basset horn)
