Back on the subject of Selmer signets...
The local music store in my town only stocks Selmer Signets for
student rental/sale. As a result, everyone in the junior high and high
school bands play them...except for me. I started on a relative's clarinet,
an (old) LeBlanc Dynamic 2. Freshman year of high school, I bought a buffet
R13. Both of my clarinets have played amazingly well in tune, even though
the LeBlanc was somewhat blown out. The Selmer signet (I assume they were
the student line models), on the other hand, always played sharp. Since 20
beginning clarinettists couldn't always be trusted to pull out the right
place every time, the band director gave up on me amd tuned the tuned the rest
of the
section. When we played together, mypitches were obviously flat next to
theirs. Have any of the rest of you had troubles tuning with large groups
of signets or any other brand of horn?
