Well, I have cork pads on *all* my upper joints -- and even a couple of cork
pads on my lower joints...but, it's strictly a financial consideration for
me, as I get a doubling fee (as per our collective bargaining agreement) for
playing a percussion instrument, since my personal contract says "Assistant
principal clarinet, E-flat clarinet and Clarinet" and nothing else! The
other clarinetists in the section have seen me grow wealthy beyond belief
through no other reason than having cork pads on my clarinets and are
quickly following suit. After all, there *is* life beyond the orchestra!

(It's not true, however, that members of the percussion section have been
seen working on reeds in their spare time!)

;)
