I suspect that clarinet players everywhere have struggled with tape wow,
flutter, & warble. In the past, I have found taping practice sessions
useful only for checking rhythm and pitch to some degree.

A couple of years ago, I bought a Sony DAT walkman. I also purchased the
stereo mic that was recommended for use with it. This thing is so great!
Microphone placement is not even particular. I can actually choose reeds
with it. I can compare mouthpieces. I have found it to be an amazing and
indispensible tool.
