It seems we have another controversial musical interpreter among us
today--Richard Stoltzman . . . Conversely, I notice that some have
great regard for Stoltzman. The feel he is an original thinker who brings
a fresh look to the standard repertoire . . . I'm curious to hear some
comments about Kell and Stoltzman. If you do not care for one but enjoy
the other, why? It seems both have original musical approaches...how do
you draw your distinctions?

I am reading the archives for this list (a pile of printouts sits in my
music room) and on fear of my
life I will not make statements here I cannot substantiate before Mr.
Leeson ; ) I would simply note
that I have [subjectively] felt a similarity between these two artists
for quite some time. Specifically, I am referring to their phrasing.
That's all.
