Dear 1867@-----.COM (1867)
I was bass clarinetist for the Coast Guard Band for about five years. The
instrument I played was a Selmer with low C and silver keys. The stock
Selmer C* mouthpiece that came with the instrument worked very well with
Vandouren size 3 reed. It is a great instrument, mellow, even sound and pitch
is better than most.
I strongly encourage you to play any instrument before purchase, or, better
yet, ask a professional to play it for you. Buying a clarinet (be it bass,
soprano, etc.) is a little like buying a used car. It's a good idea to get
professional advise. It may cost you a little more, but in the long run,
could save you some disapointment.
Congratulations and Happy New Year.
Tom Labadorf
