I'd like to introduce myself and my clarinet-playing 14 year old.
I'm just a lover of the sound of the clarinet and won't be posting
much, just reading. My 14 year-old, Stephen, is a serious clarinetist
and is studying as much material as possible. He may post (using my
name) from time to time.

Stephen is currently 1st chair in the Northville, MI Freshman Orchestra
and plays a Selmer Paris 10G (I think it's a 10G ;^) with a Vandoren
5RV mouthpiece. He's particularly fond of Mitchell Laurie reeds. His
solo last year was a Fritz Kreisler piece (Praeludium and Allegro)
trascribed for clarinet. His teacher is Irv Feldman out here in
Detroit.

BTW - I read in one of the logs that there may be other mouthpieces
better suited for young students. The schools in this area require
the Vandoren 5RV as a mouthpiece starting in the 5th grade. The
mouthpiece doesn't seem to hinder their playing at all.
