I love the 5RV Lyre -- I tried four of them when I went to buy it, and only
one of them really struck me as a great mpiece, but the one I chose, I love!
It accepts a pretty thick reed, I've discovered; I'm currently using V-12
#4's. The intonation on my horn also improved dramatically since I bought
the new mpiece. However, my clarinet (Selmer Prologue) is incredibly bright,
and the mpiece did nothing for tone quality, but maybe I shouldn't expect it
to. I still have a very clear sound, so I'm happy nonetheless.

Maybe I can't offer a real technical explanation of why I think the 5RV Lyre
is so great, but that's what I think about it. I wonder if some other people
agree/disagree with me.
