About 3 years ago I acquired a Buffet R-26 clarinet and have just now
undertaken restoration. It is a full-Boehm with articulated C#/G#,
left-hand E-flat/A-flat lever and low E-flat (just like a bass clarinet!).
It was built in 1959 and the wood and keywork are in excellent shape. It
shares some components with the R-13, but due to the low E-flat is about 1
3/4" longer. Yes, it's a B-flat instrument.

I'm sure someone out there knows this instrument and can tell a war story or
two about it. I would be very pleased to correspond with someone who knows
why Buffet built it and what it's position in the line was. Was it built to
American or European pitch? Is the bore similar to the R-13? Would Mozart
approve?

I have no case for it and due to it's unusual proportions, I haven't found a
replacement, despite trying Boosey&Hawkes/Buffet and Washington Music. If
anyone has one, or can recommend a custom casemaker, please speak up.

Best Regards

Dave Lane
