I had a similar experience in regard to the M13 and V13 mouthpieces and my
teacher who plays in a major symphony had come to the same conclusion from
his trials: the pitch is lower than with other Vandoren (and many other mpcs)
such that with a standard set up (66mm Bb and 65mm A barrel) the instrument
plays at A 440 when fully warmed up- excellent for playing with a piano, but
does not leave enough leeway for sharper tuning with orch or playing on a
cold instrument in doubling or switching from A to Bb. Nevertheless there
may be some examples that play higher or lower, but this seems to reflect
the overall tendency. Using shorter barrels could compensate of course.
The baffle of the M13 and V13 is notably more concave than for example the
B45 tending to give a "deeper" tone, hence the ads reference to Chedeville.
The M13 facing is quite close (1.00 mm in one I have), the V13 medium (1.12
mm in one I have).
These are just personal observations, but perhaps they will be of interest to
others who might have been interested by the same ad.
