Lorne,
I've never played it but I'm told that "Strada" by Donald Martino
is feindishly hard and a great piece. Erland von Koch's "Monolog 3"
states that it is alternately for bass clarinet. I'm sure that many other
such solo clarinet works would work quite well for bass clarinet. Also,
why not commission?
