I have had several small cracks in various clarinets over the years, and
lately the repairman I trust most (Bob McDonald in Vancouver) has been
pinning less and gluing more. The last two he glued for me have held
perfectly (for two years and more) and are more or less invisible.

When I last visited him, in November, he had an oboe in the shop with a
huge crack- almost the whole length of the top joint, through many tone
holes. I'm going to contact him and see if the repair was successful- it
was pretty scary looking I must say...
