Since a second clarinet misses the bottom of the range of the basset horn by
a 6th why not transpose the basset horn part at sight on the A bass
clarinet, that way you can kill yourself and save Dan the trouble.
But seriously isn't it WORSE to play it on 2 clarinets, ruining the musical
sense, than using a bassoon and ruining the tonal balance.
