I have to confess that the Scrooge in me does not much like Christmas
Music on the radio. But this evening, I heard a portion of a concert
broadcast by the Coast Guard Band (on my way home from Nutcracker 9 of
16) which included interesting works by James Curnow, Percy Grainger, and
Benjamin Britten. Of course, since I was in the car, I couldn't note the
exact titles of the pieces, but they were all wonderful music.

The playing was of a *very* high quality - rhythmically exact, balanced
between brass and woodwinds, and superb intonation. If I'm not mistaken,
we have 1 or 2 Coast Guard folks on this list. Congratulations on a fine
performance.

If you have a chance to hear this program on the public radio station in
your area, I highly recommend it. What a wonderful holiday concert!
