There are still people in the world who do business the old fashioned way --
customer service! Last September, the original French-style case on my 1950
Selmer Paris low Eb bass clarinet finally died. The local Los Angeles case
makers wanted $400 for a new case, Selmer wanted $500+, and the top luggage
and instrument case repair company, H. Savniar, wouldn't touch it. I called
DEG and Dan Getzen answered the phone. I told him my story giving him the
specifics on my horn. He said he was back-ordered on his bass clarinet cases
and to call him in two weeks. I got busy and two months later, Dan called me
to let me know the cases had been in stock for some time and did I still need
one. He shipped me one on approval and with DEG's universal design, i.e.
adjustable end-of-joint supports, my horn fit perfectly.

Bottom line -- with DEG's business volume, I'm really impressed not only with
the case, but with the individualized attention I got from Dan. I also
kidded him about the KLARINET postings re: his new "Eddie Daniels" barrel and
Mr. Daniels "endorsement" policy as duly recorded in KLARINET. If you get a
chance, give Dan a call at 1-800-558-9416 and tell him Eddie Daniels sent
you.

(This is not a paid endorsement - I paid the full $158 price for my case!)
