I'd suggest that one tries atom mass spectrometry provided that the
instrument is dendrochronologically calibrated, meaning that one would have
to travel to Africa searching for a comparative grenadilla sample for use as
a control group. But remember to boil the clarinet thoroughly in a bleach
solution in order to remove any extant pigments and oils which would only
distort the data.
This is great! I have found yet another way to combine my two
majors, Anthropology and Music!
