I think Scott Morrow hit the nail right on the head. Most audiences enjoy
watching the bows move, checking out the different sizes of fiddles, etc.
If presented with computer-performed music on a regular basis, they will
likely say to themselves "I may as well just stay home and listen to a CD".
This will result in declining attendance/revenue. Now the big question, in
my
opinion, is how will the "orchestra" management respond to this situation?
I am not particularly worried that our orchestras may be replaced by
computers. I also think that the Louisville incident was directly related to
the apparent labor/management strife currently going on there.
