Say, that's really interesting. I also started playing the viola after I
realized that for many orchestras, my amateur clarinet level was not high
enough. What's the next choice if someone really is eager to play within a
symphony orchestra? Viola, of course. Nobody wants to play that thing anyway
it seems.

I just wonder how many viola players actually started their musical life
with the clarinet?
