Phillipe is (not was) an excellent young (i.e. 40ish) French clarinetist.
I believe he recorded the concerto in 1993 or early 1994, because in August
1994, Francaix wrote to me (translated from the French):

"I have just directed a recording with your colleague Phillipe Cuper as
soloist (my concerto coupled with that of Copland). Indeed an excellent
inflation in the number of recordings of that concerto! The oldest reminds
me of a 1908 Ford Model T."

I don't currently have a copy of the recording to refer to, but I have
heard it and everything is extremely well played.
