I think this is another case of good technology used in bad ways.
Probably others that use music technology such as MIDI will say that most of
todays digital instraments are just another medium to express ourselves with.
It is unfortunate how many productions use recordings insted of a performing
ensamble. I still remember the time you could go to a Six Flags type theme
park and go to one of their shows and there was a real ensamble playing the
music. That fell quite awhile ago. I'm not against using this technology
as a tool, but I refuse to believe that people will ever prefer a computer
to a good orchestra. This is another ploy to cut music expenses so there is
more money for everyone else in the show. It is bad enough that we have to
fight school districts to keep them from cutting music, now we have to fight
the industry. ANYBODY HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS????????
