Benny actually made two commercial recordings of the Copland for
COlumbia Masterworks
works. One in Mono, one in Stereo. THe mono is quite rare, the stereo
has been
reissued many times and is likely still available. The Reiner live
broadcast is
notable for being rather sloppy on Benny's partl, probably because he
rushed to
do it in order to beat Ralph McClane to the punch by a day or two.
Unfortunately,
there is no recording of McLane's performance, though it is legendary.
