I don't know why you're so keen on giving up on it already. I play on
one, and sometimes do complain that I wish I had a better, more known
name, but when Buffet came to town and I tried a whole bunch of their
professional clarinets, I was quite pleased with the way mine sounded
compared to them. If you're having "response" problems as you say, it
may be more wise to start by looking at your mouthpiece/reed setup. Or
maybe the instrument just needs some minor adjustments by a good repair
person.
Although I was in a position like you a few months ago, I decided I
should be quite happy with my instrument.
