Lindsey,
I agree with Dan's characterization of the Copland Sextet. But,
in regard to other literature for the same comnbination of instruments,
you might consider the sextet by Orrego-Salas. I've read through this
work several times and performed the first movement a few years ago at
a workshop.
While I would hesitate to schedule the entire work, the
first movement has enough substance to be included as a stand-alone
sampler for a sextet concert. Also, when played up to tempo, that movement
really cooks and has good audience appeal.
