First, music should never be a competition except with yourself i.e. a
better performance than the last one.
Since competitions are out there and they do help the vitae, career,
pocketbook, or whatever, it would be nice of they were open to more of the
clarinet world.
I feel that if a competition is for high school students fine. As soon as
the age limit is more than 18 or 19 a gray area is reached. Why even set
an age limit - make it based on if a person is deriving a majority of their
income from music performance.
I like seeing the age limit of 28, 30, 33 years for some of the European
competitions. Why the magic number.
There's no age limit on orchestra auditions.
