Subj: Lindsey asks about the Copland sextet

Lindsey, the work of which you speak, the Copland sextet for clarinet,
string quartet and piano (same combination as the Prokoffiev Overture
on Yiddish Themes) has to be one of the most difficult works in the
repertoire. The rhythms are ferociously complex and the one time I
played it (must be 15 years ago), it took 60 hours of rehearsal and
we never did get parts of it correct.

The work itself was later turned into a piece called "The Short
Symphony."

Take out life insurance on yourself if you decide to do it.

Killer piece!!!
