Dan,

I absolutely loved your response to Martin Pergler about the Eingang in the
Beethoven. Also, I found your mention of the piano Eingang in the Mozart
Quintet apropros.

The next question that comes to mind, however, is what other chordal
signals did they have in the classical era?

How about a 13th chord with a flat 9th? What did people do then?
