Since you directed us to some less frequently heard Mozart, let me just add
that those who want to plunge the depths of the Mozart work catalogue as far
as soprano and clarinet works are concerned can safely aquire Sabine and
Wolfgang Meyer's Trio di Clarone playing various tidbits on EMI CDC
754547-2. Nice playing of quite unremarkable music but entertaining all the
same. The real find on this CD is Matyas Seiber's Three Morgenstern Songs
for Clarinet and Soprano from 1927. They are short, entertaining pieces in a
modern style written so that they can be performed without the assistance of
an intrusive pianist. I liked them very much. Others will no doubt warm to
Stravinsky's Elegy for J.F.K or his Cat Lullabies (Berceuses du chat), both
of which require three clarinets to accompany the soprano.
