Nate--
Thanks for your reply. I do realize that all clarinets are
different and I didn't mean to sound as if I meant that every
Buffet high a flat high F. I have found that in playing with
different people this has been the case but I do realize that
they are not all the same. My LeBlanc L-300's have a sharp high
F and a flat throat A which make intonation a bear. To bring
the A up a little I cover the bottom two holes on the upper
joint. It helps a little. Thanks for setting me straight.

I was the only first clarinet without a Buffet and I could
tell on several pitches that I was the one out of tune especially on my
high F (which is really super sharp.) My high G is fine but I
understand that there is nothing I can do about the high F except lip
it down. On the Buffet, I know the high F is flat, and to bring itup
you add the right hand fork key.

Be sure you try several different brands and models!! I'm sure that
high F isn't flat on every single Buffet clarinet. I played on a
model when I was shopping where the throat A was flat. Every
single instrument is going to be different you know, so you've
got to pick out the one that works for *you*-- not what works
for "everyone else." I have a feeling you know all this,
but your posting sounded like you assumed all the clarinets Buffet makes
have the same intonation problems. They most definitely DON'T!
