Your C is pretty certainly not designed to be used with a standard B
flat/A mouthpiece - only really recent Cs are likely to be this friendly.
If you can find a modern mouthpiece with a short facing *and* a narrow
tip opening, this may help, but you will probably always be fighting to
keep it (get it???) in tune. As you may or may not know, rosewood is
nothing to do with roses; it's a tropical hardwood from a tree related to
the blackwood. Anything dark brown which isn't blackwood is likely to
have been stained, so the colour doesn't mean much.
(Somebody may well know better than I do ...).
