Neil, I don't know if you were around this summer, but I wrote a somewhat
extended account of having spent an afternoon with Ricardo Morales at
Mucy's Woodwinds in Boone, NC when he played the Weber with the NC
Symphony-- pretty amazing event for an enthusiastic neophyte like myself.
But for the record, although Morales is currently sponsored by Leblanc, he
says that that's what he was playing before they got involved sponsoring
him. Also, Larry Combs was originally scheduled to play that gig, but
when he couldn't make it it's my understanding that the Leblanc people had
something to do with putting Ricardo in the slot-- having to do with the
fact that they're both sponsored by Lebanc.

I wonder what the professionals out there think of this observation: in
Ricardo's hands the setup had a wonderful lyrical quality, a quality I
would think would be at a premium with an opera orchestra. I wasn't sure
it could "sit down" on the big orchestra parts, or contemporary music parts
that really need to fill an auditorium with a sense of hard edged command
(sorry for all this fuzzy language Dan) that I think I hear out of the Buffets?
