Everett makes the statement that "in the US, nearly everyone uses the R-13"
(meaning the Buffet) "and relatively few other professional options are
readily available." I do happen to play on a pair of Buffet R-13 Prestige
instruments, and was once a Buffet loyalist. Buffet's model R-13 has
been consistently used by professionals for decades, but Buffet certainly no
longer corners the market on professional quality instruments. One need
only examine the setups of some of the major players to realize that
there are indeed a bounty of options for professional level instruments.
Both Ricardo Morales and Eddie Daniels play on Leblancs. And isn't Larry
Combs on a Yamaha or something? I think J. Laurie Bloom is on a Yamaha
bass, although that's a different discussion.
