Subj: 2.: Looking for WURLITZER clarinets
Date: Fri, 10 Nov 1995 10:35:42 -0500

Hi everybody, thanks for the massive feedback from your sides, unfortunately
I still have no offer for instruments at this moment.

I guess it is really tough to get hand on a used Wurlitzer. However, I am
still confident that somebody has good news soon....

Also, I received comments about why to change systems and clarinets at all.
Personally, I have changed from the German to the Boehm system a couple of
years ago (after playing them for about 15 years), not because I felt they
were better or they sounded greater, but because I lived in England at that
time (sent to Coventry, Warwick University), and to join the Orchestra and
Wind Band turned out to be difficult with just one German system clarinet.
(It is really an ensemble tuning problem)
I had the chance to visit the Yamaha factory, close to Hamamatsu during the
WASBE conference in Japan this year. As I am German, I had a special
interest for the German bore, Boehm fingering clarinets, and upon my
question of how good they sell, the answer was round about 10 instruments a
year. That explains the high price for these instruments. Apparently they
are mostly used by Tokio Kosei and the Yamaha Factory Band.

For the time being, I would not like to change back to the German system.
The Boehm fingering system is so much more convenient and easier to handle.
I could give several examples if sombeody was interested in that kind of
discussion. Just drop me a mail...

Regards, Randolf
