I too have tried the Glotin Gaia and GIII reeds, and have always had high
hopes for them, but when it comes to a performance or even a rehearsal, the
V-12 reeds almost always seem to get picked. There is a dark resonant sound
that the Glotins have at hte beginning of their life that seems to turn to
stuffiness, whereas the V-12 reeds often seem to need some balancing before
they play with a clear resonant sound (instead of like cardboard) and then
enter a useful part of their lifecycle. I have found the Alexander Superial
reeds a bit similar to Glotin, but more useful.
I am still experimenting wiht ways to make these costly orphans play well. I
wonder if anyone can report positive results. (I use a Morgan RM-15 mpc with
#3 reeds with Buffet RC clarinets)
