Helen,

ABS (Resin) is a type of plastic. It easy to work with (from a
manufacturing standpoint) though I think this is the plastic that
doesn't react favorably with alcohol. The alcohol crazes the plastic
and causes it to break.

Maybe Clark Fobes or Jerry Evoniuk can tell you more about the plastic.
