Speaking of interpretation, last Friday (the 27th) I went to a clarinet class
that Dr. Maxey was having over the lunch hour at KU. We listened to
different recordings of the K. 622. It was really great!!!
WE listened to Marcellus, Shifrin, Leister, Gigliotti, Colin Lawson, Leopold,
Wlach, and Penas. I think the general consensus was that we liked Wlach,
(surprisingly enough, it was a very old recording) and a cross between
Shifrin and Marcellus. It was extremely educational to see who was playing
what from the page. I had only listened to Shifrin (on an extended range
clarinet) Brymer, and Goodman. This was just one of the greatest experiences
clarinetically! :)
This Friday, I get to tell everyone about YOU GUYS!!! So, there will
hopefully be more lurkers and contributors to Klarinet soon.
