Glenn Gould went into recording sessions with several different
interpretations prepared for the same piece. I am finding more
and more works for which I can see different interpretations which
I feel are valid. In some, it's the case that I can understand
a different interpretation which is valid and enjoyable for me to
listen to but it wouldn't be the right interpretation for me to
play. In a few instances I've found that I can play the same
piece different ways and be happy with both.
How about others on this list? Do you find different equally
satisfying interpretations for the same work? Which pieces are
examples for you? Comments?
